The tugs where built for BUGSIER in 1969 at the former F. Schichau Yard in Bremerhaven. The ships are 87.5 m long with a beam of 14.35 m. They are equipped with HATLAPA steering gears. The ships where modified with Kort nozzles in 1975 to increase bollard pull.

After conversion the tugs attained bullard pull of approx. 180 t. The “Arctic” was later converted to a private yacht. She is most likely the yacht with the highest bullard pull value in the world. The “Oceanic” is still owned by BUGSIER in Hamburg. She works as a standby tug for emergencies in the North Sea and is chartered by the German government.
