1988: "Sovereign of the Seas" cruises with FKSR Flap Rudders.

The very first purpose-built cruise superliner, “Sovereign of the Seas”, was delivered by Chantiers de l’Atlantique in 1987 and entered service in 1988. Since then she has served her owner, American-Norwegian Royal Caribbean Cruise Line (RCCL), well for over 15 years and now sails to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral, year-round with a capacity of 2,600 passengers and 424 crew members. Becker Marine Systems delivered two FKSR flap rudders (order no. 1243), tailor-made to the requirements of the 12,000 KW propulsion system, focussing on the high manoeuvrability needs and the demand for an economical rudder solution on modern cruise liners.
